Flora Langlois is first and foremost a nature enthusiast. Her paintings are exuberant celebrations of the natural world often filled with mystical characters and playful animals. Langlois’ painting is often considered to be the visual arts equivalent of the South American literary tradition called “Magic realism.” There is realism, fantasy and a mystical approach to her work. She seems to penetrate the extraordinary order and the spiritual connection of things natural to us, how all creation is united. The artist infuses her paintings with joyous energy and visual musings about the natural world.
Langlois has been the recipient of several awards, has been featured on television shows in her native country Costa Rica, and has illustrated books. Her paintings are in public and private collections across the US as well as in Mexico, Europe, Australia, and Latin America.
