Martha Glowacki is known for her keen sensibility toward the whole of nature expressed in a broad assortment of her finely crafted objects. These objects, often odd but somewhat familiar, are combined within unusual settings revealing a focused and persuasive mind confronting the mysterious workings of the natural world.
The artist has received several grants and awards and her works can be found in collections at the Chazen Museum of Art, Madison, WI, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Madison, WI, and the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Sheboygan, WI. An installation by Martha Glowacki and the Chip Stone Foundation called “LOCO MIRACVLI – Rooms of Wonder” is currently on view at the Milwaukee Art Museum.

THE LOOK OF THINGS:
Children picking up our bones
Will never know that these were once
As quick as foxes on the hill;
And that in autumn, when the grapes
Made sharp air sharper by their smell
These had a being, breathing frost;
And least will guess that with our bones
We left much more, left what still is
The look of things, left what we felt
At what we saw.
