New Mexico native, Susan Stamm Evans began creating delicate female figures in porcelain and gradually moved into powerful bronze sculptures. Her posed figures, sometimes nude and intimate in scale, evoke unexpected emotional responses. The great physical presence of her large fragmented bronze sculptures demands a response far beyond the simplicity of the object. The face becomes an abstract form, compelling yet familiar.
